Infernum

Infernum was created in 1992 by Anextiomarus and Tom Balrog (Oppressor/Baphomet's Throne). In 1993 they released their first Demo entitled "The Dawn Will Never Come". After few months they recorded the
"Damned Majesty" Cassette. On this album you can hear keyboards which were created by Rob Darken (sessions). Between 1993 and 1994 Tom Balrog abandoned Infernum. He became replaced by Capricornus.

In 1994 Infernum released full-length album "Taur-Nu-Fuin" through Astral Wings Records .
During recording When The Light Has Died Capricornus is already only session's music and at these time together with Darken finished cooperation with Infernum band .Soon after that Anextiomarus hangs Infernum activity.
In 2000 Peter (Thy Worshiper) and Anextiomarus created an unholy Death Metal project named Dagon, and they recorded a Mini album.

The original Infernum. Not to be confused with the other Polish Infernum.

After the split-up of Infernum because of problems, Rob Darken and Anextiomarus later on revived and continued their own incarnations of the band, leading to the existence of two d
ifferent bands from the same city with the same name. This Infernum is against the wishes of Infernum's founder, Anextiomarus. Darken and Capricornus were only session members.

Paimon helped Anextiomarus out with Infernum at times.
From left to right: Rob Darken, Capricornus, Anextiomarus.
1996 - "When the Light has Died" Unreleased Tracks

Basically Carpathian Wolves/1000 Swords-era Graveland with Anextiomarus doing the vocals and songwriting. Very much in the same vein with a more mystical/atmospheric bent to the music. Disbanded when Anextiomarus turned into a police informant, but Anextiomarus reformed it in December '02.

Anextiomarus formed Infernum when he was 16. On 30/04/04, Ane
xtiomarus commited suicide by jumping off the 5th floor of a apartment building. He was 28. All of Infernum's albums will be reissued and dedicated to him.
There are currently two bands called Infernum, one of which consists of Darken and Capricornus, and another which consists of the other members who had joined the band before Anextiomarus' suicide. This other Infernum is listed on its own page, since it's essentially a completely different band. The releases recorded with the old line-up and by the Darken/Capricornus line-up will be listed on this page.

Imprecation (USA)

Speed death/black metal band from the desolate wasteland of Houston, Texas.

Elemental yet engaging death metal which carries the stylings of faster Amerikan bands and is reminiscent of Absu for its visually predictable streams of power chords rhythm differentiated into riffs, Imprecation hover in the grey area between extreme New York styled death metal and absolutist nihilist black metal such as Havohej, creating an onslaught via streams of riffs emphasizing overlaid melodie
s hammering home to a melodic center.
Complexities of articulation from within simple riff salad type compositions with occasional glimpses of a solid will toward darkness arise and demonstrate repetition and change as patterns of finding essential relevance and from that, direction. Lyrics are mixed occult blasphemy from ancient cultures and invokation of demonic hatred in an aimless rejection. While vocals are of a guttural but sustaine
d howl and as such serve a rhythm role akin to that of a snare drum, their constant texture undulates throughout an unselfconsiously assembled assault of sound. Like similarly formed Incantation this death metal band institutionalize an aesthetic of constant intense dynamic of multiple directions converging simultaneously, producing a paranoia and perverse fascination with the mysteries of complexity and conjecture.

With skillful interweave within the ripping skein of guitar formation that assembles the core logic of each piece, song structure moves to emphasize rhythm as foreshadowed through energetic blast or drop cadence drumming, matching vocals to rhythm work and letting that structure o

f thrust carry listener attention forward as guitar shades ambiguities with shifting textures and crosshatches of simultaneous motions in phrasing. Baffling in the depth of co

mplexity seemingly immanent to that process, the music of Imprecation fashions from basic parts and simple heuristics reasonable metal that matches the ferocity of its raw energy to a dark spirit that, had this band continued, might have fully emerged in a culmination of this anithesis of peace in sound.

Eternal Dementia

Eternal Dementia was started in Norway by Stig A. Kristiansen and Tor Erik Simensen (ex-Ragnarok) in 2002. But things began to happen a few years earlier, back in 2000 when Stig recorded the song "The Terror Lies Hidden". One night during a session of alcohol consumption with some friends Stig put on the song and immediately caught the attention of those present. The response was so good that Stig began to work hard to form a band.

Next, Tor Erik was approached whether he was interested in joining Stig to create some great music. Luckily he was, and that great music took the name of Eternal Dementia. A series of intense rehearsals followed and soon "The Virgin, Sedated and Seduced" and "Set Out to Die", two killer songs, were written. At the time Stig was the main driving force behind the band. He can be given credit for all lyrical and synth parts, and several riffs while Tor Erik did the rest. The pair was very pleased with the material they had put together but wished to broaden their horizons. So when opportunity knocked on their doors and Robert Florholmen and Andreas Gr?tan offered their guitar skills, it was most likely that they would accept gladly. From then on Stig focused mainly on vocal and synth roles and Tor Erik took drum duties.

In January 2004 the band entered the studio to record their first effort entitled "The Virgin Sedated and Seduced". The demo was mixed and mastered by Tony Waade at Mistral Lydstudio and printed to 200 copies. Two songs were recorded for this release, as well as an intro track to "Set Out to Die". The music in the demo can be described as a blend of howling vocals, crushing guitars and thunderous drums contrasted by mellow synth passages.

Eternal Dementia play neither black nor death, just authentic metal. Their musical style is highly original as they believe that music should be about expressing oneself.

THE VIRGIN, SEDATED AND SEDUCED (2004)

Tracklist:

1. The Virgin, Sedated and Seduced (5:54)
2. Prelude: The Birth (1:29)
3. Set Out to Die (3:49)

Tartaros (Nor)

Carnival black metal from a creator of extremely goofy and twisted evil aesthetic.

Clear and textured with the grit of a blasting metal session, yet not obtrusive and nicely integrated to the flow of sound.

Review: Black metal's wicked melodrama found adherents worldwide in the gothic tradition of narrative melodrama as vital forces enact upon one another the combinations of their fate, only to plunge further into the blindness of existence and death. One could say Tartaros is that agency also in its creation of dream music, where the narrative winds through insane tunnels of logic and finally spins itself into nothingness.

Drifting keyboard riffs fill the most of the sound that will come from your CD player, followed by the crashing fire of guitars and the vibrating husk of bass warbling behind. Cymbal crashes punctuate otherwise mechanistic (heh) drumming as the journey permutates through melodic changes to riff, without really leading the melody anywhere - wandering lead keyboards overlay the droning guitar thrash and vocals play dominant rhythm instrument to counterpoint the monolithic river of sound. Song structures are closest to techno, with breaks and breakdowns and re-entry phases. It never loses intensity but winds through the passageways of the mad.

Last known line-up

Calling idiot or idiot-savant will not help, most likely; where it is beautiful Tartaros builds exciting bends of melody inside otherwise repetitive ambient rock/metal cyclic structure, and where it is predictable it is more coherently assembled than most music. Aesthetically almost carnival gothic and rhythmically close to the waltzes of Graveland mixed with the pop throb from Ace of Base, this music is both ludicrous and intriguing through the clarity of its ability mixed with its deliberate obscurity.
